I’ve always scribbled but writing was pushed aside by the more urgent demands of life.
At school I enjoyed languages – they seemed to come easy - even though my exam results for maths and science were better. I tried lots of jobs but none particularly appealed though, while married, I did enjoy running a 12 acre smallholding including a herd of dairy goats. At 30 years old with no marriage, no home, no money, no qualifications and two small children, it seemed obvious to become an accountant. It paid the bills.
It was later in life after a useful Master’s Degree in Finance that I found myself redundant and then reluctantly fell into lecturing. Here I met interesting people and visited students around the world. I even learnt to fly helicopters!
I now live peacefully in Milton Keynes with a cat and the Radio Times, annoying my children.
